The Pennington County Jail maintains a work, school, or job search release program, which allows an inmate to maintain his or her employment, search for employment or attend school, while serving a court ordered sentence. The Work Release Center for the Pennington County Jail is located in a residential area and we do everything possible to be good neighbors. During the winter months the inmates may be instructed to help shovel snow off the sidewalks and yard work will need o be done during the rest of the year. There is also an area called the "Red Zone" that is off limits. This Red Zone is the residential area to the north of the Work Release Center. It also includes the Civic Center parking lot and the Central High School parking lot. When leaving the parking lot to the east go to Haines and then north or south from Haines. Inmates traveling to the west may use Mt. Rushmore Road.
You must have had a TB Test within the last year as of the date you come into custody. You must provide documentation and results of that test upon arrival at the work release facility.
Inmates will turn in all paychecks, properly signed on reverse side along with pay stub reflecting hours worked, pay rate, etc. Paychecks with out pay stub information are unacceptable. Cash out forms are available if you need money for payments, rent, etc. and should have all information filled out legibly. Cash outs are subject to approval by the Work Release Coordinator and the $126.00 Work Release fee must be paid one week in advance.

When requesting an item not listed or additional item listed, submit your request on an Inmate Request Form. Lockers/Foot totes will be neat and clean at all times and subject to inspection at any time.
