Due to juvenile confidentiality requirements, persons under the age of 21 years of age are not allowed into the facility for tours. Professionals working in the juvenile justice system and civic organizations may be allowed to tour the facility at the discretion of the Commander. Inquiries related to facility tours can be directed to the Commander at 394-2639.
For information, view our Volunteer Services page.
The WSDJSC Community Service Program is an alternative to detention and is dedicated to helping troubled youth serve the community. The program provides for positive interactions between youth and non-profit organizations within the Rapid City Community. The youth will be involved in various community service projects for set periods of time in lieu of being detained within the facility as consequences to their actions. Participation in this program is at the direction of a court order.
