SOUTH DAKOTA FACTS:
In 1855, a soldier named John B. S. Todd came to Dakota. He liked the area and
worked to open the land to settlers. Mr. Todd, cousin to Mary Todd
Lincoln, was also instrumental in getting the Dakota made a territory of the U.S.
