| Commitment to Change |
| |
|
| The "Commitment to Change" program, authored by Dr. Stanton Samenow,
is based on the belief that the way we think has a powerful influence on our lives. Thus, we are in control
of all the choices we make both responsible and irresponsible. |
| |
| Objective: For the juvenile to become aware
of their thought processes and how these processes affect their decision making, attitude, and behavior. The
program begins with the question, "Why change?" Once this question is discussed and reasons for change are
presented, the different types of thinking errors are explored. |
| |
| Skills Acquired: T he juvenile will be able
to identify errors in their thought process. They, in turn, can think about these errors before they act.
The end goal being: to make cognitive changes in their thinking process so their behaviors and actions are
more appropriate. |
